Believe me, I completely understand when we get home after a late night or are just too plain tired to do anything, the last thing we want to do is take off our makeup and follow a proper skin care routine. Which is exactly why I wanted to start this challenge! I tend to get on random kicks of things I love and currently it is skin care, so i’m making sure this kick sticks. I am challenging all of you to join me in following a night time routine…EVERY night! Yes I said it, every. single. night. No matter how tired (or lazy) I am… I am determined to do this every night. I don’t care what products you are using, just try your best to stay along the following steps!
Step 1: Remove your makeup
I have been using the Neutrogena Makeup Remover face wipes for just about forever now and I still love them! They aren’t overly drenched in soap so it doesn’t suds up on your face or anything. They do a good job at getting most of my makeup off. I like to do this before I wash my face so the face wash can really clean my skin instead of just getting my makeup off. Makeup remover wipes are not magic, so they won’t get everything off, which is why you need to make sure you don’t forget step 2!
Step 2: Wash your face
At the moment I am using Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser. I haven’t quite decided how I feel about this cleanser, but if you have dry skin you should definitely give this a try! It moisturizes and cleanses at the same time so it doesn’t leave your skin feel dry or tight. Always wash your face after you remove your makeup!! This is what is going to really clean your pores and make sure there is no makeup left on your face.
Step 3: Tone
I got this toner a while back in England and just found it and re-fell in love with it again! You can find rose water toners from quite a few different brands, and I think it is amazing. I like to use something a little bit more gentle on my skin at night. As with any product I ever mention, each product works differently with each persons skin. What works well for me might not work well for you, so be sure to try products until you find the right one for your skin type!
Step 4: Moisturize
This little guy is my current favorite moisturizer! I got this as a sample with my foundation that I buy from Lancome and it is amazing. It is very light while staying extremely hydrating. You feel fresh the second you put it on. It also doesn’t leave an oily residue or feel like it will transfer to your pillow. If you use an oil or serum, use that before your moisturizer! I have been testing out a few of them for the first time, so if you have any favorites I would love to hear them in the comments!
That’s it!! Only 4 simple steps. As much as it sounds like a pain in the butt, it all really takes less than 5 minutes…and I know we can all spare 5 minutes before we go to bed! If we can all follow this routine every night our skin will think us now and years down the line! Don’t forget, it is NEVER too late to start a skin care routine. Remember, at the end of the day what is also going to make a huge (like huge huge!) difference is what you are putting into your body and most importantly staying hydrated!
