smoothie bowl

At first I thought this latest food craze was odd. Smoothie bowls…what’s the point? What’s different about putting a smoothie in a bowl versus a cup? Well, I found it depends on your morning. Have an early class or meeting to catch? A mug may be for you. However, if you have a slower morning but still want the sweet taste of a smoothie and maybe a little crunch, give the bowl a go! Plus there’s a bonus. Adding other ingredients like banana slices, chopped almonds, or coconut flakes on top will keep you fuller for longer. You can make any type of smoothie, obviously, but I chose a tropical blend for mine.

Blend together:

2 clementines

1 cup strawberries

1 cup frozen mango

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

To top it off I sliced up half a banana and added some granola. You could even add some dark chocolate shavings or coconut flakes! So what do you think? Keep a smoothie in a cup or change it up to a bowl!?
